Summer is so much fun!

Hey everyone! I hope you are all having a good summer. We are loving it up here in beautiful BC. The sun is out and the water is just right. We are planning to hit the beach at about 4pm this afternoon for some swimming and we'll even bring our dinner down there.

Breastfeeding at the beach is a bit of a challenge. You just have to make sure you have a good log to lean against and I put my diaperbag under one arm as well for support.

Luckily Trey is not quite crawling yet, otherwise the beach can be hard to manage. Hana and Lexi love looking for beach glass and "lucky" rocks. Any rock with a ring around it means it's a wishing rock. You can make a wish and throw it into the ocean. My kids LOVE this notion! Last time we went, Lexi said, "I wish it would rain" (I tried not to criticize!) and wouldn't you know it, it started raining on the way home! That was pretty funny.

Have a great day!

Yes, the baby has arrived

I must apologize that I have not been very good at keeping my blog up to date for the last while. Our baby boy, Trey, arrived safe and sound on October 20th (yes, it was 7 months ago!) and life has never been the same since.

Having three kids is rather chaotic but also the greatest JOY. Trey is a very easy going baby. He is constantly smiling and flapping his arms up and down when he gets excited - he looks like a wild bird. ha ha

My labor was awesome, I have to say. I labored in the hospital, in a huge jacuzzi tub and it was way better than my last two labors, which were not in the water. My midwife did not really have to do much this time around. (I'm Canadian so midwives are allowed to deliver babies in hospitals in some places). My husband was there by my side, saying all the right things. I couldn't believe what was coming out of his mouth! He was saying, "Remember that your body will only give you what you can handle" and "You are doing so beautifully. I am so proud of you." It makes me teary now just to think of it.

Anyway, Trey came after only about 1 hour of labor and only took two pushes. It was very intense but I was so glad it was fast.

Trey nursed well right away and is still nursing well.

We are all VERY delighted to say the least!

I'm Pregnant Again!

Just as we had decided that we were quite happy having two kids, guess what? I am pregnant again! At first I was really shocked, but I am now 27 weeks pregnant so I've had a bit of time to adjust to it. Now we are super excited! We decided to have an amniocentesis, and found out that we're having a BOY! So we have our two fabulous girls and now a boy. It's fantastic! I just wanted to share the news with you, my website visitors. Thanks for all your support.

Speaking of support, I want to thank those of you who have purchased my ebook, "And baby Makes Three".Your feedback has been tremendous. For more information, click on this link below: (and thanks again!)

My ebook is selling nicely!

It is so exciting to create something that you think will help people, and actually have it succeed! My e-book "And Baby Makes Three, Now What Do We Do?" was a long time in the making. (I wrote exactly what I wished I had had when Hana was born.) It explains exactly what to do with your baby from the moment you take her home from the hospital. You think it will all come naturally, but it helps so much to have someone who's "been there" explain a few tips and tricks.

Several women who have bought it, told me that they are not even pregnant yet, but thought it would be good to have on hand for when they do become parents.

If you or someone you know is expecting a baby, I urge you to consider purchasing my ebbok. You can find it by clicking on "My Ebook" in the Navigation Bar on the left of the page.

Thanks!

Oh no, Alexa is sick again

My poor baby is sick again. James took her to the doctor twice this week (talk about feeling guilty - I had to work... but that's another story).

Anyways, the doctor first said it was just a cold, but I was sure it was something more. She was coughing and coughing incessantly. It seemed like she couldn't breathe.

Poor thing. I feel so bad for her. And helpless, too. There is nothing you can do for the poor baby.

Finally the doctor put her on antibiotics after four days of a high fever. I am not too thrilled with antibiotics, but when your baby gets remarkably better after less than 24 hours on them, you know you did the right thing.

Yesterday she fell asleep in my arms -something she hasn't done in months and months. She is so, so sweet. She just keeps looking at us with big, worried eyes. "What's wong with me? she seems to be saying.

We've got the humidifier going full blast in her room. Actually, it was a bit much the other day - it activated the smoke detector outside of her room!

Oh well, I'm sure she'll be right-as-rain in a few days, but in the meantime, lots of cuddles and extra kisses. Now, if James and I don't catch this bug from her, it'll be a miracle, what with her sneezing, coughing and snotting all over us!

Baby Names

How do you really know what name will suit your baby? It always fascinates me what people name their babies. Where I live, there are lots of very cool, laid-back people. But I have to admit, it cracks me up whenever we take the kids to the park because I hear other parents calling their kids, "Eco! Time to go!" or there are also lots of "natural" names here like River, Ocean, and others I can never seem to remember.
One thing I do know, is that kids always end up fitting their names. Have you ever met an adult that doesn't fit their name? Well, ok, I guess I have met a couple, like grown women named Missy and that type of thing. But for the most part, when a couple has a new baby and they tell you what the baby's name is, sometimes you think, "Oh, I don't know if I like that or not..." But then after you meet the baby, and get to know him or her, they always fit their name!

Hurray for babysitters!

As I am typing, I can hear the kids upstairs squealing with delight because Aija is here playing with them. The last two weeks have been so intense and yesterday I found myself really losing patience with the girls. I thought, "I need a break soon, or I'm going to lose my temper."
So I called Aija (the teenage daughter of one of our friends) and she agreed to come over this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon too.
James went out to Canadian Tire (what a guy thing to do!) and I'm off to Starbucks for a nice treat!

What to do when your kids are sick

Well, wouldn't you know it? We did not get through Christmas this year without both kids getting sick! I took little Lexi to the doctor yesterday, and it's a good thing I brought Hana too, because he examined them both and diagnosed them both with bronchitus.
I just feel terrible for them.
However, as I always say, it's better to light a single candle than to sit and curse the darkness, right? So we went out this morning and got a brand new humidifier to put ion their bedroom, and hopefully that will help ease their discomfort a little.
And now we just wait for them to get better... And while we are waiting, give them as many hugs and cuddles as possible, read books, have bubble baths and hang on!
