Pregnancy Cramp

Q: I am concerned about a pregnancy cramp. Should I be worried?

A:
I had cramps all throughout my pregnancies. It was awful, I must say. I feel for you, I really do. Here I thought it would be so great not to have my period for nine months, but I felt like I had PMS for 280 days! (forty weeks...). Everyone said they were Braxton Hicks (whic are suppoesd to be painless!) but they really and truly drove me crazy, they were so strong.

It's wise to mention any and all cramping to your doctor or midwife. If the pain becomes very strong, you may be dealing with an ectopic pregnancy and you would need to see your doctor immediately.

If your cramps become a pattern, you could be in preterm labor, and you would also need to see your doctor right away.

It is always wise to err on the side of caution and get yourself checked out.

Hang in there and try to keep your thoughts focussed on that beautiful baby that is coming soon!
